===POWERS===

Powers:

Card Manipulation: Blackjack's powers revolve around playing cards. He knows the exact value and suit of any standard playing card simply by looking at it, even if its back is to him. He can also levitate any standard playing card (except jokers) within 25 feet of himself, and launch it at speeds of up to 25 MPH. A card launched at max speed will cause a rather nasty paper cut from a glancing strike, while a dead-on hit could imbed the card in an average human's skin. He can control 52 cards at any one time, although he can only launch one at a time. He can also lift things that are underneath his cards, at a limit of five pounds per card underneath the object. However, cards that are lifting objects cannot throw those objects, and if they are thrown the thing they are lifting will fall to the ground.

Die: A magic die that Blackjack carries around. It cannot be loaded or broken. When in combat, rolling it gives different effects depending on the number rolled:

1. Heals Blackjack completely.
2. Creates a 10 X 10 X 5 foot wall in front of Blackjack to block attacks (Lasts for 30 seconds, can be broken by anything stronger than a rocket launcher).
3. Instantly reloads all of Blackjack's decks.
4. Burns all of the cards in three of Blackjack's decks.
5. Deactivates the die for the remainder of the battle.
6. Heals opponent completely.

Once the effect takes place, the die returns to Blackjack's hand.

Card Counting: Even when Blackjack is not using his powers, he is an incredible card counter. While this is a rather useless combat ability, it helps him figure out when the best time to join in on a game is, one of the things he was used for before discovering his powers.

Weaknesses:

Fire: Since the cards Blackjack controls are normal playing cards, fire will burn them and make the ashes unusable.

Human: Apart from his powers, Blackjack is just like any other human being. Anything that will kill your average civilian will kill him.

Reckless: Blackjack tends to rush into battles without thinking about the dangers that could come about because of his actions.

Blackjack is a happy-go-lucky kind of guy who rarely takes things seriously. The only things he actually take seriously are card games and battles, although he tends to crack jokes even during the latter. He is very friendly towards other heroes, while he tends to mock villains.

History:

Jack was born in Jump City to a counterfeiter named Ace and hi wife. At first, Jack had a normal childhood, but by the age of eight, his father Incorporated him into the counterfeiting ring. Ace's plan revolved around going to a casino to drop off the fake bills, play a few games so as not to arouse suspicion, and then exchange whatever chips he had left for real money. Jack's roll was to count cards and alert the players when it would be a good time to join. Since it was illegal for him to actually go to the casino, certain members would wear special cameras and watch games that were going on. The feed from these cameras was sent back to Jack's computer, and he would tell the players when to enter the game.

After a few years of this, Jack's mom had had enough. She went to his father and demanded that he let both her and Jack leave the business. Unwilling to let his best card counter go, Ace got into a fight with his wife, accidentally killing her in the process. Jack, who had witnessed the scene, angrily lashed out at his father. As he threw a punch at the man, a card that was in the room at the time flew at Ace as well, scratching him. Surprised by this, Ace used Jack's new ability to help him win even more games. Getting tired of being used and angered by his mother's death, Jack gathered evidence to give to the police, who in turn granted him immunity from his crimes. Jack then packed his things and moved to Star City, getting a job there and honing his powers.

Blackjack walked down the alleyway, quietly humming to himself. Unbeknownst to him, he had a follower. "Hands up kid." a voice behind him called. Turning around, Blackjack saw a man pointing a gun directly at him. "Are you sure you want to do this?" he asked as he put his hands up, brushing the lid to his black deck open as he did. "Shut it! Just give me your money!" "Alright, alright. Just give me a second." Blackjack put his hands down, and as he did, a card flew out from the shadows and into the man's hand. "GAH!" the man exclaimed, dropping the gun as another card hit him. Blackjack smirked across at him. "You still want to do this?" The man's response was to turn and flee back out of the alleyway. "That's what I thought."
