A manhole cover was lifted, and a large figure crawled out. It was a robot, and it was not in good shape. One of his red eyes was burned out, and he was missing an arm. His legs were also battered. Robot Sniper had just finished a fight with two powerful humans.
Or were they? The female could turn into a dragon. The male moved with great speed and could produce lightning bolts from his body. Such abilities were not unheard of in the universe, but they had not been anticipated in humans here on earth.
The intelligence provided for the mission was incomplete. Twice now, an unexpected individual had appeared to alter the course of combat with efficient abilities.
This was not cause for any concern, but clearly Robot Sniper needed to gather additional intelligence about these humans and their planet. He was, after all, an assassin. And eliminating any target required information on them.
But right now, Robot Sniper needed to repair himself. This part of Star City seemed run down. He didn't see any humans at the moment. Slowly, he moved himself into a nearby dumpster. It was empty. Here he would wait, until his repair system had restored him.
It had been a close fight. Had just one thing gone differently, Robot Sniper could have been destroyed. Then he would no longer be able to carry out his programming. Was that a bad thing? Did it matter at all if he continued to exist, to work, to kill?
He did not know. It was not part of the intelligence provided for this mission.
